Crowded cockpits on Hockenheimring

The Formula Gloria testing days 2009 at Hockenheimring on November 26th/27th were a total success.

Test pilots from Germany, Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic showed professional driving skills and reached impressive lap times, the best being 1.44 minutes.
All 20 drivers were extremely eager to operate one of the ten available formula racing cars. Their cockpits were occupied nonstop and most young drivers had a hard time getting out of the fascinating formula racing cars. Glowing, euphoric faces spoke for themselves: “One more round, let’s go again!”

When the lights turned green at 9.00 am sharp on the traditional circuit Hockenheimring there was no holding back.
The track was still wet during the first session, so session all drivers used rain tires. The conditions grew better quickly over the course of the morning. Now all racing cars switched to slicks and the young drivers were able to go a whole lot faster. They continuously improved their lap times shortly after the change of tires. The weather stayed nice so both days allowed for testing with slicks.

The on-site assistance by our professional Gloria racing team transformed these testing days into a special event for all drivers. At first the pedals and seats of all vehicles were adjusted to the according pilot. After each completed session the Gloria experts analyzed the individual racing performance to a tee: Is steering angle, braking point and acceleration correct? How can the engine speed be optimized?

Engineers happily took their time to analyze the personal driving behavior and explained the complicated telemetry data to the pilots in full detail. For the mostly young drivers this procedure was an enriching educational experience of professional formula racing methods. Afterwards the engineers used the evaluations to set and adjust the bolides according to their individual drivers. The pilots were able to profit from the extensive analysis and reached even faster lap times.
Lots of Journalists showed also great interest in the Formula Gloria testing days, especially in the new Gloria C8F Monoposto

One of them was the writer and test driver Martin Westerhoff from the car magazine Auto Bild Motorsport. Westerhoff – in Hockenheim for a report on test circuits – took the Gloria C8F Monoposto out for a total of 20 rounds. The car’s smooth handling and liveliness impressed him right away, so he decided to use his lunch break for an extended photo session. The outcome: Over 1.000 striking pictures of the C8F on Hockenheimring.

On the second day Stephan Ernst, winner of the DMV Kart Championship 2009, got the overall best lap time with 1:44.7.
This lap time is in the range of top-qualifying times of the current ADAC Formel Masters (best time 05.06.2009, 1st qualifying: 1:44.985).

The Formula Gloria testing days 2009 were a delight to both pilots and guests and all of them are hot for the next Formula Gloria event.
